Today we attended Nick's pinewood derby race. They had a really cool race track that was super long and had a timer that timed to the one-hundrendth of a second and told you instantly which cars came in first through 6th place. We owe a huge thanks to our neighbor Mr. Jeff who helped us at every stage of this and let Nick and Jeremy use his workshop in his basement to carve out the car and drill holes for weights. Nick designed the car himself including the Alabama logo and the Roll Tide license plate. He got mostly second and thirds out of six cars in all his heats which put him right in the middle of the pack of 20 cars in his group of Bears. Two of Nick's best friends took second and third. He took losing in stride and is already talking about all the things he is going to do to his car next year. It was really fun and we learned a lot in the process.
