Bad Storm

We had a bad storm last night and a lightning strike hit the tree in our front yard and brought half of it down to the ground. Luckily, it fell away from the house and our cars. We aren't sure if the whole tree will have to go or not. We are sad it was such a beautiful tree in the spring and Fall.

Nick's VBS Performance

Last night Nick performed with all the 1-6 graders at the VBS final performance. It was very cute and he sang nice and loud and did all the hand motions to all the songs they sang. There is something wonderful about hearing your child sing about how he wants to be like Jesus and how he knows that Jesus has a plan for his life and knows he loves and cares for him. All of us had a great week at Vacation Bible School!

Grandma and Grandpa Visit

Grandma and Grandpa Olson came to visit over the last 2 weeks and my boys were in heaven. They were spoiled rotten the whole time. Despite the crazy heat we had a great time and were sad to see them go. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for a very fun couple of weeks. Miss you!

Anniversary Trip to the Beach

Jet skiing in the back bays.

The view from our hotel room.

Jeremy and I were lucky enough to take a trip to the beach to celebrate our 10 year anniversary without our kids. (Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for watching the boys!) We had a blast and really enjoyed spending time reconnecting without screaming kids interupting our every conversation. We went to Orange Beach, AL which is right on the gulf coast. We were lucky in that we really didn't see much oil on the beaches or in the water. Some oil was washing up in the morning with the sea weed but it was still really beautiful. Unfortunately, the day after we left it got hammered and you couldn't even go on the beaches or in the water now. That is truly sad because it is such a beautiful place and I would have loved to go back with the kids. It is hard to believe it has been 10 years since we were married. I look forward to the next 10 and to having many more adventures with the man I love even more then the day I married him.

Splash Pad Again!

We went to Splash Pad with Grandma Olson last week. The boys had a blast despite it turning off before we were ready to go home and getting locked into the park and having to walk the long way back around to our car. This was Nick's first time at the splash pad so I had to post some pics.

Jeremy's ACSC Graduation

Jeremy graduated from Air Command and Staff College last week. We are so proud of him. One year of school down and one more to go. He will now be attending the School for Advanced Air and Space Studies. He earned another Masters degree and continues to enjoy getting more education and training. Congrats Jer!

Graduation Ball

Last night we attended Jeremy's graduation ball. It was a formal event where all the students wore their mess dress(military tuxedo) and all the spouses wore formal wear. We had dinner, speakers, and drinks and dancing. It was a wonderful night filled with lots of sad goodbyes to all the good friends we have made this year. It was a wonderful way to bring the school year to a close.

Gathering of Eagles

Jeremy & Nick with Colonel "Bud" Day

On Thursday night we went to an event at Jeremy's work called Gathering of the Eagles which is basically a big BBQ honoring a bunch of living war heroes that came and spoke during graduation week to his class. There were people from WW 2, Vietnam, Korea, and some of the current conflicts. The boys got to meet Colonel Bud Day who is a medal of Honor recipient from World War 2. It was truly a great honor to meet him and introduce our kids to him. There is no greater lesson I want to instill in my kids then their everday freedoms came at a price and still do come at a great price to many. We also got to show them the plane that Jeremy's Grandpa flew in World War 2 which was very cool for the boys to see. Despite Aidan having a major meltdown and not wanting to leave we had a wonderful evening.
