Lots and Lots of Swimming

Stuffing fruity cheerios in his mouth.

Nick making a big splash off the big red slide.

We have been swimming up a storm since it has been crazy hot here all of May. Our pool opened a few weeks ago and we have been there pretty much every day since. Nick earned his green necklace by passing the swim test the other day so now he can swim on his own and go on the biggest water slides in the big pool. He was so proud of himself and is now venturing off all over the pools with his friends. Aidan can finally go down the little green waterslide by himself and is a little fish. Both boys love the water so I am sure we will spend most of our summer at the pool.

Watching a train go by

Last night we went to a Biscuits Baseball game with some good friends. The Biscuits won 6-1 over the Tennesse Smokies. Nick had a blast spending the game with his best bud Ben trying to catch foul balls and eating ice cream. Aidan spent most of the time with the other kids in the play zone running around trying desperately to stay awake as it was way past his bedtime. They had fireworks after the game in honor of Memorial Day weekend and they were one of the best displays of fireworks that we have seen in many years. It was the first time Aidan had seen fireworks and he kept trying to reach up and catch them out of the sky. It was a great way to start off our long weekend.

VBS Kick-Off Party

Last night we went to our church's VBS kick off party. Basically it is the night they use to attract interest in their VBS program and get kids registered. They had pizza and snowcones and all kinds of stuff to eat and drink. The theme for this years VBS is the Saddleback Rodeo. So they had pony rides and a mechanical bull as well as bouncy houses and all kinds of games to play. Nick was the only one of his friends who didn't fall off the mechanical bull. Both boys loved riding the real ponies. Aidan went up the giant slide a million times while his brother waited in line for all the games. I am going to teach Aidan's class of 3 year olds for VBS so hopefully I survive the week. If this night was any indication of how well the program is run I have no doubt that the boys will have a very fun week.

Splash Pad

Yesterday we went to splash pad with Emma and Ian and the kids had a blast. Splash pad is this great little water fountain spray park where the kids basically get to play in the fountain as it shoots up in different patterns. Aidan loved running around chasing the water. He also loved that the park is right next to a train track and he got to see 2 big trains go by while we were there. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day as it was in the 90's. The park is in a very scenic spot at the top of a bluff overlooking the Coosa River. We will definitely be spending some more time there this summer.

Being Silly at the Zoo with Emma

Aidan and I went to the Zoo twice in a the last two weeks with our good friends Kerry, Emma and Ian. These are just a few pictures of Emma and Aidan being silly after eating lunch. Aidan talks about going to Minnesota all the time now and not to visit his Grandmas and Grandpas and cousins and Aunts and Uncles but because Emma is going to be living there now. He says all you have to do is drive on the big highway a little bit and you will be in Minnesota. We will miss them this coming year but look forward to a reunion the next time we are in Minnesota.

End of the Year Baseball Party

Nick had his end of the year baseball party on Monday night at Chick-Fil-A. One of the Dads on the team owns Chick-Fil-A so he was nice enough to foot the bill for all the food for the evening. Nick got a trophy for the season. His team ended up in 3rd place in his division. Nick learned a lot and enjoyed every minute of it. He is looking forward to playing again next year and attending baseball camp this summer.

Kiera's Birthday Party

A couple weekends ago we went to our good friend Kiera's 4th birthday party. The boys enjoyed playing in the bouncy houses and with the bowling sets as well as the cool ride ons. We had a baseball game before the party and it was super hot that day so about an hour into the party we ended up heading home because both boys were exhausted. Thank you Kiera for a very fun afternoon.
