Today we did the Bike DC family ride for Mother's Day. The only way I could convince Jeremy to do anything of this nature was to have it be on Mother's Day and tell him it was my day so I get to pick what we do. But despite a grumbly start from all the boys at 6:00 AM we had a wonderful time. We hit Dunkin Donuts on the way into the city and then met up with a gang of friends and their kids. Aidan rode on a tandem on the back of Jeremy's bike which was nice because he never would have made the 11 miles. Nick struggled the last 2-3 miles but he did it and was so proud at the finish line. We got to see many new sites along the way that we hadn't seen yet which was fun. We finally saw the Air Force Memorial up close. You can see it off of 395 every time you go into the city but it has the most amazing view from the top. We also saw the Iwo Jima Memorial which is really amazing up close. The ride also directly went by the White House, Capital, Washington Monument, JFK Memorial, and many of the other major buildings in DC. It was a wonderful, healthy way to start Mother's Day. We enjoyed the rest stops(especially the candy at them) and all the wonderful people we met along the way. Hope everyone is enjoying this fantastic weather and getting spoiled by their families.
